Marketing Communications Associate Position
Reporting to the President and CEO, the Marketing Communications Associate will raise earned income through marketing and promotion of sales of performances across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan in the company of a lively dedicated TSO team.
Inspection of layouts, copy, scripts, digital content and other promotional material for adherence to specifications; implementation of dynamic advertising and promotional campaigns efficiently to ensure maximum results; the assembly and organization of data and relevant information necessary to support campaign planning; helping with crossover promotions for patrons, sponsors and donors; working collaboratively with colleagues as an energetic competent member of the team that always goes the extra mile for music.
Knowledge Skills Required:
Computer proficiency and expertise in developing social media content and delivery; facility with analytical software, Adobe systems, data base development and optimization; proficiency in English language – spoken and written - including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar; knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods; knowledge of basic business and management principles involved in strategic planning and resource allocation; knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting and selling products and providing customer and personal knowledge; active listening; social perceptiveness; communication – verbal and written
Enough experience to have learned:
Critical thinking; judgement and decision making; fluency of Ideas and creative notions for problem solving; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and see each task through to its full, successful completion; aptitude for prioritizing projects; comfort with managing staff and vendors, directing workflow, and assigning tasks and responsibilities.
Communicating to develop and maintain relationships; thinking creatively and collaboratively; making decisions, supporting the decisions of others and solving problems; interacting with people and computers; keeping knowledge of both up to date
4-year bachelor’s degree; work-related skills and knowledge based on 3-5 years of progressive work experience; training in music appreciation and/or performance a big plus; dependability and attention to detail; adaptability and flexibility, self-control, stress tolerance, and desire for effort and shared achievement; ability to work independently, and cooperatively with others; evidence of success, curiosity and a sense of humor.
This position requires a flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend performances and events.
Since 1943, the Toledo Symphony has grown to a well-respected, high quality regional orchestra with a force of nearly eighty professional musicians, an outstanding and proud music and educational asset of the regional community. TSO presents a well-established, diversified program offering including Classics, Pops, Mozart, and Chamber and Family programs; a host of additional regional and local concerts annually for audiences of hundreds of thousands. There are many examples of special events demonstrating the TSO’s capability to perform in a superior manner including 2011 Spring for Music competition and Carnegie Hall debut and a successful arena community performance of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy to celebrate a milestone anniversary.
