Fourth Grade ConcertsThe Fourth Grade Concerts are a substantial way in which the TSO partners with the Toledo Public School system, placing TSO in the opportune position of having a regular role in the curriculum of all children in Toledo Public Schools. These concerts introduce children to the instruments and music of the orchestra, as a means to excite and inspire fourth graders to take up an instrument in fifth grade. Young People’s ConcertsSchools are hungry for arts experiences that support learning and encourage arts participation. Each year in Toledo, over 10,000 students have the opportunity to hear the TSO at a Young People’s Concert. Young People’s Concerts are available to public, private and home schools. Learn about each team member through performances of selections from Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition and Copland's Rodeo. February 17, 2011 – 9:45 and 11:00 Science of Sound In partnership with Imagination Station, we explore the instrument families and musical concepts like pitch and volume by uncovering the science behind them. Join us in a scientific experiment to dissect the orchestra through selections from Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite. Tickets are still only $4 per student, and chaperones get in free. It has become an annual arts program associated with the TSO for almost 30 years and is for elementary school teachers, students, and their families. The League considers this program one of their major activities and is enthusiastic about their interaction with the Toledo schools. school of musicThe Toledo Symphony announces the opening of the School of Music.
