Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestras

As part of the core educational mission of the Toledo Symphony, the Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestras bring together more than 200 of the most talented students from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan in an atmosphere of musical excellence. Three ensembles, the Philharmonic, the Symphonic, and the Concert Orchestras, perform four concerts each season. For full details and the latest news, visit the official TSYO website here.

Side-by-Side Concerts

Side-by-Side concerts allow for connection with the students in order to develop authentic mentorship opportunities and to increase impact on individual young musicians and on the ensemble as a whole. To bring TSO musicians to your school, contact Rachel Zeithamel at 419-418-0022 or rzeithamel@toledosymphony.com.

Toledo Symphony School of Music

The Symphony School, also known as TSSM, is a place where families come to learn and experience the power of music through private lessons, group classes, enrichment activities, and performances. Private lessons are offered throughout the week, Monday through Saturday. Group classes are held on Monday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Click here to learn more.

Community Music Lessons

For nearly two decades, the Toledo Symphony has facilitated meaningful relationships between young, underserved students and their teachers, professional and highly proficient musicians. This program also serves adolescents at the Lucas County Youth Treatment Center. If you, or someone you know, is interested in high quality, one-on-one instruction, at little or no cost to the family, please contact Joan Weiler at 419-418-0037 or jweiler@toledosymphony.com

Private Lessons

Members of the Toledo Symphony and other local musicians are available to share their passion of music to educate students and give private lessons. Contact Rachel Zeithamel by phone, 419-418-0022, or email, to learn more.

Toledo Symphony League Young Artist Competition

Competitions for young musicians provide avenues for the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and the Toledo Symphony League to support talented young musicians in the community.  The Toledo Symphony League typically provides as many as three monetary awards each year in the professionally judged Young Artist Competition and has coordinated with the Orchestra to provide winners with the valuable opportunity of performing as soloists with them at the Showcase of Young Talent Concert, February 11, 2018.
