The TSYO brings together 200 of the most talented students from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan in an atmosphere of musical excellence. The students, led by Wasim Hawary, and Assistant Conductors Patrick Barrett and Elaine Colprit, meet regularly with TSO musicians for clinics and sectionals.

The TSO has been providing free music lessons for 18 years, supporting underserved individual young musicians, students in select schools, and residents at the Lucas County Youth Treatment Facility. This program, although in existence for more than a decade, is the TSO’s most under-recognized, yet potentially most valuable community resource.

Side by Side concerts allow for connection with the students in order to develop authentic mentorship opportunities and to increase impact on individual young musicians and on the ensemble as a whole.

The Symphony School is a place where families come to learn and experience the power of music through private lessons, group classes, enrichment activities, and performances. Students as young as three work with Symphony musicians to develop their musical talents.
