*This year new member auditions and seating auditions will be the same to avoid making students audition twice. All auditions are during the above times.
These auditions will determine which orchestra you will be placed in for the entire year, so it is advised that you work on these with your private teacher. Separate auditions for all concert master positions will be arranged after rehearsals begin in August by invitation if needed. Audition results will be emailed around July 1 to the email on file for you so you will know when to come to your first rehearsal.
If you wish to be considered for placement in Philharmonic Orchestra you MUST audition during the scheduled times, or in advance. Please contact us if you have questions or conflicts with this policy.
For the 2015 season we will be continuing to maintain three full orchestral ensembles: The Philharmonic, Symphonic, and Concert Orchestras. Through these three ensembles, we are able to continue accommodating the growing numbers of musicians interested in performing with the TSYO. The program represents a proven value for young musicians in the greater Toledo area, and members receive numerous benefits.
Student musicians in the youth orchestras will continue to be actively involved with performers from the Toledo Symphony Orchestra on a regular basis. The student musicians will also continue to have the benefits of free tickets to TSO performances, Side-by-Side opportunities, and advance purchase privileges for family, but most importantly, the orchestra will continue to perform the highest quality literature from the orchestral repertoire in addition to selected chamber repertoire. We also plan to continue our commissioning projects. In the previous three seasons, our students have presented 9 world premiere performances.
There is a $250 tuition fee for each member of the orchestra. Families with more than one member in the orchestra will pay only $220 for each additional child. Tuition assistance is available to qualifying students. Please contact Joan Weiler, TSYO Coordinator, at 419-418-0037 or firstname.lastname@example.org. All inquiries about tuition assistance or tuition related issues are held in strict confidence. Deadlines for communication regarding tuition assistance requests are August 1st, so please be in touch with us soon if you need additional information.
We hope you will join us for our 2015/2016 season!
